Director of Finance, City of Norfolk, Virginia, Norfolk, VA:
Located in the Hampton Roads area of coastal Virginia, Norfolk is a city of almost 243,000 residents and more than 100 diverse Neighborhoods. It is the cultural, educational, business and medical center of Hampton Roads, hosts the world’s largest naval base, the region’s international airport and is one of the busiest international ports on the east coast of the United States.
This professional will provide direct supervision to the City Controller and Retirement Division and be responsible for a departmental budget of $3.7 million. The new Director will work in a collaborative relationship with the department Directors and other appointed officials. The position includes responsibilities for the development of strategic financial philosophies, accurate and appropriate accounting of the City’s finances, debt management, and an $800 million retirement system.
