Fort Lauderdale’s green, affordable apartments win U.S. home-builders award

Fort Lauderdale’s Progresso Point apartments — an eco-friendly, affordable housing venture — has been named Project of the Year 2012 by the National Association of Home Builders.  The 76-unit building is the first affordable high-rise to be certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition.  The building is a collaboration between co-developers Reliance Housing Foundation and Broward County Housing Authority, contractor Facchina Construction and sustainability expert Trifecta Construction Solutions.
