Developing affordable permanent housing goal of Evansville, IN plan to end homelessness

One of the main goals of a plan to end homelessness in Vanderburgh County is to increase opportunities for affordable permanent housing for a population has been limited traditionally to temporary shelters.  New affordable-housing units have been created since the “Destination: Home” plan launched in 2005, but not at a sufficient pace, officials said. Now, advocacy group Aurora, Inc., and other organizations are increasingly looking to landlords for housing in hopes of easing the number of those having to resort to emergency shelters.
