NMTC Model Helps CT Habitat for Humanity Affiliates Build More Homes

An infusion of nearly $6 million of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) funding to several Connecticut Habitat for Humanity affiliates will help 31 families in distressed neighborhoods of Hartford, New Haven and the surrounding area achieve home ownership this year. As the economy struggles and families wishing to purchase their own homes find it difficult, NMTC dollars help Habitat affiliates such as Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven build more homes and make more interest free loans available to Habitat family partners.  Partnerships like this one orchestrated by Smith NMTC Associates, LLC with CEI Capital Management LLC and the Connecticut Habitat affiliates bring additional funding to build sustainable communities at nominal cost to the Habitat affiliate or their host city.
