Saratoga Springs Housing Authority rating improves, HUD says it’s performing above others

For all of the negative publicity that has plagued the Saratoga Springs Housing Authority in the last six months, it is performing above average as far as the Department of Housing and Urban Development is concerned. Earlier this month, Saratoga Springs Housing Authority Executive Director Ed Spychalski announced that the housing authority’s rating had gone up to a score of 92 out of 100, making it the second-best in the region. That’s up one point from last year’s score, he said. The score is based on a variety of assessments, including the physical condition of authority-run buildings, inspections conducted by HUD and interviews of the tenants.
