Joliet housing authority board removes longtime CEO

Henry Morris has been fired as chief executive officer of the Housing Authority of Joliet.

Morris had been CEO of the housing authority since 1991. But he has been on a paid leave of absence since April 24, and the HAJ board has been investigating allegations made by two female employees.

During the leave of absence, deputy chief executive officer Michael Simelton has run HAJ. Simelton was made interim CEO on Wednesday. Barber said the board will consider later whether to interview other candidates for the job.
