The Los Angeles Housing Department was created in 1990 as the lead housing agency of the City of Los Angeles. Its mission is to provide safe and livable neighborhoods through the promotion, development, and preservation of decent and affordable housing. The LAHD currently has 609 employees and an operating budget of over $75 million.
Under the direction of the Executive Officer, who reports to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of the Administration Bureau oversees 102 employees and a departmental operating budget of over $75 million. The AGM plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the activities of the Accounting Division, the Systems Division, the Personnel Section, the Grants Management Unit, and the Budget and Management Services Unit, which are engaged in providing vital administrative support to line staff involved in carrying out the Housing Departments housing programs. Applies sound management principles and techniques in building and maintaining an effective workforce.
