Huntsville Housing Authority to use $5.7 million from Councill Courts sale to buy or build 148 public housing units

By the end of this week, the Huntsville Housing Authority could be $5.7 million richer. That’s how much the agency expects to get from selling 11.3 acres at the former Councill Courts public housing site to a team of private developers. On Monday, Executive Director Michael Lundy said the agency will use that money to buy or build as many as 148 public housing units to replace apartments taken off-line over the past few years at Councill Courts, Sparkman Homes, Searcy Homes and Drake Towers.
