Gray’s Landing, first affordable housing development in South Waterfront, is nearing completion

The first affordable housing development in Portland’s South Waterfront district will open to qualified tenants in mid-November of this year.
On a recent hard hat tour, construction workers were putting the finishing touches on the $50 million, 209-unit Gray’s Landing apartment building. The Portland Housing Bureau partnered with non-profit REACH Community Development on the six-story building, which is named after local philanthropist, developer and veteran John Gray. It also includes subterranean parking. Forty-two of the apartments are reserved for low-income veterans who have been homeless within the past two years. Rents on these are federally subsidized. The other apartments are intended as work-force housing for people earning between 50 and 60 percent of median family income.
