Columbia (MO) Housing Authority plans to build apartments

The Columbia Housing Authority and New Horizons Community Support Services submitted an application last week to the Missouri Housing Development Commission for tax credits that could be used to build apartments for low-income people, including those with mental disabilities, in northeast Columbia. The housing authority and New Horizons partnered with St. Louis-based ND Consulting Group — which also is developing a plan to revitalize CHA’s downtown public housing stock — to submit the application for low-income housing tax credits that could be used to finance the construction of 47 one- and two-bedroom apartments.  The project is planned for a 4.35-acre site on Lambeth Drive in northeast Columbia. It would include four buildings — three for CHA residents and one for people who could be served by New Horizons, which assists mentally-disabled people with employment, housing and mental health care.
