Omaha Gets $1 Million Grant For Affordable Homes

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded the City of Omaha $1 million in Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) resources for three projects in the City of Omaha. The first project involves an award of $222,000 NAHTF money to the City of Omaha to rehabilitate 11 homes for owners earning at or below 100 percent of the Area Median Family Income. The homes are in the Columbus Park neighborhood. This award marks the second year funding for the Columbus Park Homeowner Housing Rehabilitation Program. An additional $175,000 from the City’s CDBG or Lead- based Paint Hazard Control funding source will complete the project. The second project provides an award of $333,000 NAHTF money to build a total 11 new homes targeting homeowners earning at or below 100 percent of the Area Median Family Income, and one targeting a homeowner at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Family Income.
