Sacramento: Sustainable senior housing project Foothill Farms opens soon

Bridge Housing Inc. is celebrating the grand opening of its newest affordable-housing project — Foothill Farms Senior Housing, which is for people ages 55 and up earning 30 percent to 50 percent of the area’s median income. The $26 million, 138-unit complex is on a former commercial parking lot at 5400 Auburn Blvd. The apartment complex has many sustainable features, including a central courtyard that doubles as a bioswale to filter and slow storm runoff prior to its entry into the public storm drainage system. The architect was Kuchman Architects PC, the general contractor was Tricorp Hearn Construction and financing was by Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Wells Fargo and California Community Reinvestment Corp.
