Milwaukee: Housing proposed for downtown warehouse

A four-story warehouse just north of downtown Milwaukee’s Park East strip would be redeveloped into other uses, including housing, under a new proposal.

Developer Todd Hutchison is requesting a zoning change for the building, at the northeast corner of W. McKinley Ave. and N. 4th St., to allow additional uses, such as residential. That’s according to the proposal filed Wednesday with the Common Council.

The 105-year-old brick building, with just under 100,000 square feet, is at 1300 N. 4th St., and is used as offices and warehouse space for C. Coakley Relocation Systems, a moving and storage company. The building is owned by Roadster LLC, an investment group led by Christopher Coakley, owner of the company.
