Arlington, IL: Gambling revenue to feed affordable housing

Arlington Heights is developing a trust fund partially funded by gambling revenue for affordable housing under the assumption the village will someday get money from slot machines at Arlington Park racetrack.  According to a draft of the ordinance creating the trust fund, the Housing Trust Fund Task Force initially sought 10 percent of all gambling revenue from slots or expanded gaming. That was amended to 10 percent in the initial year and 10 percent of any revenue increase in following years.  Task force members said the change would make the village board more likely to approve the measure.
